Lionel Richie

Apr 4, 2023

Lionel Richie once said he got into the music business because he wanted to be Neil Diamond.

He first rose to fame in the 70s with the Motown group Commodores before ultimately launching a career as a solo artist where he went on to write billboard charting hit songs, including “All Night Long”, “Dancing on the Ceiling”, “Hello”, “Stuck On You” and more.

As a 4x Grammy Award winner, Lionel Richie has collaborated with other stars like Diana Ross and Michael Jackson. And in 2017, Lionel Richie became an honoree for the Kennedy Center Honors.

But in 2011, Lionel Richie showed us that Neil’s music is universal with his incredible performance of the timeless classic “I Am…I Said” at the Kennedy Center Honors, which honored Neil Diamond and four other artists.
