1. Neil Diamond wrote the song “I’m a Believer,” which became a hit for The Monkees in 1966. The song was so popular that it knocked The Beatles’ “Day Tripper” off the top of the charts. It was also listed as the 6th most uplifting song, according to science.  
2. In the 1970s, Neil Diamond had a brief career as a film actor. He appeared in two movies, “The Last Waltz” and “The Jazz Singer,” which was based on his own life. 
3. Neil Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984, but he didn’t attend the ceremony. Instead, he sent a letter saying that he was grateful for the honor but that he preferred to let his songs speak for themselves. 
4. Despite his success as a musician, Neil Diamond is also an accomplished fencer. While at New York University he was on the fencing team and helped Abraham Lincoln High School win the city scholastic fencing championship in 1958. 
5. Neil Diamond’s 1976 album “Beautiful Noise” was partially recorded in his own home. He had a recording studio built in the basement of his house in Beverly Hills, and he used it to record several of his albums.
