5 Black-Owned and Operated Restaurants To Dine At Next Time You See A Beautiful Noise
Jun 19, 2023
June 19th, also known as Juneteenth, is a federal holiday in the United States which commemorates the emancipation of Black slaves and celebrates the journey and the freedom of Black Americans.
And this year we want to highlight some of our favorite Black-owned and operated businesses you can support next time you’re in town seeing A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.
LITTLE PIE COMPANY
Dessert
424 West 43rd Street
Locally sourced ingredients are baked into the Little Pie Company’s fresh pies, cakes, and cookies. Some of their fan-favorites include sour cream apple walnut pie, Mississippi mud pie, and of course, their classic apple pie. If you’re not able to visit their Hell’s Kitchen Shop in person, you can also order their desserts and have them shipped to you!
BROOKLYN CHOP HOUSE
Steakhouse
253 West 47th Street
The game-changer and the uniqueness of the Brooklyn Chop House menu came home with taking the staples of a diner menu – pastrami, reuben, philly cheesesteak, bacon cheeseburger – and turning them into dumplings! If you bring your A Beautiful Noise playbill or ticket stub to BCH, enjoy 15% off your bill or a complimentary special Neil Diamond-themed cocktail with the purchase of an entree.
TATIANA BY KWAME ONWUACHI
Afro Caribbean, NYC inspired
10 Lincoln Center Plaza
Kwame Onwuachi’s new restaurant brings something new to the city, with food inspired by Kwame’s Afro-Caribbean heritage and life growing up in New York City. From egusi dumplings to short rib pastrami suya, this menu is currently one of the toughest reservations in New York City – and for good reason!
CHARLES PAN-FRIED CHICKEN
Southern, Soul Food
146 West 72nd Street
If you’re looking for a casual weeknight dinner option, Charles Pan-Fried Chicken is the choice! Per tradition, their chicken is fried in large cast-iron skillets resulting in tender, juicy meat with crispy skin that isn’t too greasy. Don’t forget the cornbread – the cornbread alone is worth going uptown for.
QUEEN OF SHEBA
Ethiopian
650 10th Ave
Queen of Sheba produces a noble spread using family recipes and creating a cozy environment inspired by traditional Ethiopian decor. Delicious vegetarian, chicken, lamb, beef, fish are available at bargain prices. A great New York find!
We hope you use today to honor progress and celebrate freedom. We also encourage you to support these Black-owned and operated restaurants or others in your own community.
